Favorite Member | Royal Pirates | Day 11

This challenge for today was so much harder than I originally had planned. You would think it easy, right? Well, that assumption is very wrong. Sure, it’d be easy if I was more familiar with the group but I’m not familiar with Royal Pirates. I may have now fallen in love with them, but that doesn’t mean I have a favorite right now.

However, this isn’t changing the fact that I’m going to pick a favorite. Of course, it’ll most likely change as I get more into figuring out the members and being a fan longer. Now that I say this, I guess I might as well tell you who I’ve almost picked at random. I went by his voice, which is oh-so-amazing (and he’s cute, but they all are >.>).  And he plays the guitar. He’s Kim Moon Chul! 😀

Favorite Picture | Royal Pirates | Day 10

Bam! Two posts in a row. I just have to do this while I’m already talking about Royal Pirates. Today’s challenge is to share my favorite picture of the band. This is a bit challenging as well since I’m not really familiar with them. And so I went to Google! I really don’t know of another way I’d go about this?

Anyways, I found this picture and like it because it isn’t a “photo shoot” type picture. It’s them being people, really. While finding this, I found this website called The Royal Voyage. It looks pretty fabulous so check it out as well.

Royal Pirates | Review | Day 9

This was supposed to be up yesterday. Obviously, it didn’t happen. I was in such a good mood yesterday to get things done. I had work from 8am-2pm. I was even not too tired when I got home! I was felling well and got my lunch and watched an episode of the Next Great Baker on Netflix.

Somehow, my exhaustion snuck up on me. I ended up taking a 4 hour nap. So much for not being tired, right? Well, I woke up sometime before 9 last night. The only thing wrong with taking naps (particularly that long) was that I wake up in bad moods and my mind feels so foggy. I ended up Skyping with a friend (Korean lessons) and then going back to Netflix. I thought about posting, I really did. I just didn’t get to it because my mind was totally not there.

And so that is why it is getting posted today. The day’s challenge is to review the band of the first song of the month. In case you haven’t seen the post, the first song of the month that I listened to was On My Mind by Royal Pirates (haha, coincidence that I talk about my mind in this blogpost). I’m going to link you to some videos at the end of the blog post. 😉

Up until a week or two ago, I haven’t really given Royal Pirates a chance. I’ve had their singles on my computer/Zune/iPhone for quite awhile, because I was given them by a friend. I don’t know what came over me, to try listening to them. However, I’m really happy I did. I’ve fallen in love with their sound.

To review them, I’m not really sure on where to start. I guessssssss, the sound that I really like. I’m not sure exactly what it is about them. Their songs that I’ve listened to seem like a mix of rock and pop. I think probably it might be more like punk pop? I’m not really sure. Whatever the genre, it doesn’t matter. There is a great flow to the songs that I’ve listened to of theirs. On My Mind has to be my favorite, though. Shout Out is pretty great too! I think that Drawing the Line is tied with Shout Out. Other than that, I’ve not heard any more of their songs. I think it’s a bit hard to find them on YouTube. However, they do have a website with a tracklist on it. I’m so checking it out.

I think they’re quite unique, in a way. They don’t seem to try to act like anything but themselves. They give off a feeling of sincerity, and I like that. I also think that their music videos are fun!

As for the members, since I’m new, I really don’t know them. However, from Wikipedia (thank goodness for you, life saver), I can tell you that their names are Kim Moon Chul, Kim Soo Yoon, and James Lee. I learned quite a bit from their Wikipedia page. Apparently, they used to do a lot of covers waaaay before they actually “debuted”. I find that really interesting. I plan to go searching for these covers.

Overall, I highly recommend this group to anyone! I think that even though they aren’t exactly “k-pop” they still fall into that category a bit? Even so, I think anyone can enjoy this group even if they aren’t into K-Pop or if they aren’t into rock type music. I think they’re a mix of both and that makes them likable by a variety of people. I honestly cannot wait to have more and more music by them.

And now for linking and videos. Here’s their Website, and here’s their YouTube Channel.

Day 8: First song of the Month | 365 Day Challenge

Hey everyone!
So, I had no idea what I was going to listen to first this month. I really liked the challenge for today. It was simple and easy…which was nice, considering I had a long day at work which tired me out.

And so here’s the song that I listened to!

20140501-214902.jpg

It was On My Mind by Royal Pirates. I have like fallen in love…
I would say more but that’s for tomorrow!

What was the first song you listened to today?

Update | BEAT WIN | Current Song

So, the Current Song page has been updated with what song I’ve been replaying and replaying and replaying. It’s getting ridiculous but I love it anyways. I included the music video as well as the dance video to She’s My Girl by BEAT WIN.

Now, let me tell you about this group. They just debuted January 6th of this year. The members of the group are SeungHo, YoonHoo, SunHyeok, SangGyu, JungHa, and YoungJo.

I think their song is really catchy. I like how it has a light upbeat feeling to it. It’s a nice change from some of the more dark and “serious” songs. I like a mix of my K-Pop. It’s also a change from BTS (which is more hip-hop/rapping than pop)…who I’ve been listening to a lot lately. Anyways, new group. I think their dancing is pretty good. I’d like to see them have a bit more powerful singing. To me, too much of it is in the same tone and everything during the whole song. Of course, this doesn’t include the whole rapping part-which was good to have for a variety of sound throughout the song. I think that this might be their company’s first boy band? I’m not really sure. I can’t find much on them or their company (Heavenly Star Content).

I can’t wait to see more from them though. Please don’t wait forever for a comeback!
Anyways, so I have some links for you!

Now, here’s some pictures that I found of them!

K-Drama Review! :: Heirs

Soooo, I’m not sure if this is the best drama for a first K-Drama review. O.o

I’ve seen a lot of negative and positive things about it. It’s really interesting what different people are thinking about it. And now I’m here to tell you my opinion. Yes, I’ve seen all available episodes (this means through episode 6). If anyone is wondering, I watch it on dramafever.

First off, I CANNOT stand the American actors in the first 3 episodes when it’s set in LA. Their acting is atrocious. Like, seriously, could they not find anyone better or did they just not care? Also, the horrendous stereotypes of Americans. Such a great way to offend foreign viewers and make them not want to watch your show…so great for international affairs. Not everyone in America drinks, does drugs, parties all the time, or only think about sex. It was really disgusting and I almost quit watching the show because of it. However, I didn’t…
Oh, and Lee Minho’s English could’ve been just a taaaad better.

If you get passed the whole crappy American stuff (which means starting with episode 4), it’s actually pretty good. I really am starting to like the story line and how everyone in the drama is somehow connected (most likely in multiple ways). It can be really intense. And at first, I was quit confused who was who and how they knew whoever. But it kind of all fell into place and now I think I got everything down. xD Not to mention, the Korean actors are awesome. I’ve seen a few of them in different dramas, so I’m already a fan. Total, I’d say that as long as they continue and don’t go back to the crappy American stuff, then they’re good and I’d call myself a fan of the show and try to forget the first three episodes.

And now to talk about how this drama is connected to K-Pop! My faaaaaaave part. 😀
First, Yoon Chan Young is played by Kang Min Hyuk from CNBLUE. Jo Myung Soo is played by Park Hyung Sik from ZE:A (who I recently got into and obsessively watched their TV show). And lastly, Lee Bo Na is played by Krystal Jung of f(x). Isn’t it amazing? I was thinking that these people looked soooo familiar.

Now, the one song of the drama is sung by Ken of VIXX! He’s one of my biases from the group. It’s almost a tie between him and Ravi. Anyways, it’s called In The Name of Love.

Link in case the video doesn’t work.

So uh, *awkward moment walking into a room*

Hi everyone! Um, I do realize it has been almost two months since I’ve posted here. I feel horribleeeeeee about it, really. But what can I say, college started getting the best of me. Now, I can say I just got to busy for getting on here to write and have fun. (YES, fun. This stuff is fun.) But I know that isn’t the whole truth. I really didn’t realize it until a couple days ago that I was slipping back into depression. Ugh, it makes me feel horrible that I didn’t even notice. I started eating more again and not really wanting to be social or anything. I mean, I was fine in my apartment with my roommates and everything. I was still a silly, loud person, but there were a lot of times of me zoning out or not smiling or anything-and I smile A TON. I think this mainly started because I was soooo stressed out the last couple months. First, I started getting behind in my classes last quarter. This was partly my own fault (I got lazy) and then I also was sick and missed a week of class. Then, I’ve been stressing over money issues. I needed a job ASAP. But now, there’s new classes (fourth week of the quarter at the moment, and I CANNOT STAND my history class). And I also have training for a job this Friday! There’s also a possibility of me having a second part-time job at my school.

Now that I’m not stressing as much and trying to be more logical about everything I’m doing, I’ve decided to get back to what I love. This blog is one of them. Another is learning. Now, I know I’m in college but aside from the horrid history class, I really only have hands on art classes (even if the one is with computers), so it doesn’t feel much like learning. What I do enjoy learning is language. I know this because I took three years of Spanish in high school. So, the day before yesterday I picked up the Korean Language for a Good Job book that I won from Two Chois. I was really enjoying it even though I made myself start over. I have decided that I want to try to go over some Korean every day. An exception for yesterday because I had a headache and my aunt came over-headache because I waited to eat my first meal at 3pm…stupid, I know. I’ve also downloaded a Korean/English keyboard on my phone to help, as well as adding a Korean keyboard to my laptop. I just need some of those little sticker things to put on my Keyboard so I know where each letter is without looking at the picture I saved to my desktop.

Unfortunately, today is my long day of class, but I decided to at least get this post saying what all has happened up to help my mood. The history class is today. I like history, but this is a four hour lecture hall class where the teacher talks about the same things over and over and over. Not to mention she shows us like four powerpoint presentations and two movies each class. I think if you cans how us that much then it doesn’t need to be that long of a class because it’s the same thing over and over and it gets boring and gives me a headache. It also doesn’t help that she only gives us one 15 minute break. And it’s from six to ten in the evening…after my Image Manipulation class…so I hardly have time to eat anything.

Blah. I’m done complaining. I’m happppppy again, and so relieved and I don’t even know how to explain. but I plan on giving the blog a face-lift. I think you’ll be surprised as to what I have planned. Also, of course, I’ll be getting back to talking about and reviewing K-Pop, since that’s what I like to do.

Though it’s most likely a lot of this won’t be happening until tomorrow since I have stuff to do before class and I don’t get home until after 10 pm. And of course I like to eat dinner then. It just depends on how exhausted I am.

So, bye for now!

Nicole

From a Kiss Me ^.^

So! I’m a U-Kiss fan, big time. I’ve been listening to them for awhile now but I was finally able to download all of their music the other night…and I’m really happy I did. Plus, I also downloaded uBEAT’s mini album. I love all of it. A lot of their stuff is so catchy and their dancing is good too! The new Current Song! choice was obviously influenced by me listening to U-Kiss/uBEAT so much this past week (click the link…the page is updated).

Here’s a different song than what the Current Song page is:

The video isn’t extreeeemely impressive, but their vocals and dance are what I really like. I think they should do a mirror/practice dance for this song, but they haven’t. However, I’ve found a couple of live performances of this song that I like (where I can watch more of the dance than in the music video). | Live 1 | Live 2 |

I don’t know that I can explain much here…besides that I keep getting distracted by watching the videos and so this post is taking so much longer to write than it should.

Here, I’ll share uBEAT’s music video for Should Have Treated You Better, since I was talking about them too and not just U-Kiss. I think this is one of the only sub-units that I actually really do like quite a bit. Their album also has remixes of other U-Kiss songs, including Standing Still.

PS: I shall convert everyone to be a Kiss Me. Hehe…

EDIT: After I published this post, I realized that I had already shared both videos (I think) on my blog. Oh well. xD They get their own awesome post.

Well…

Where to start? I’ve not posted for a few days. I was sick all of last week and wasn’t feeling up to posting. Nothing exciting happened. All I did was chill around, taking naps, and going on the computer/watching TV a bit. My mind wasn’t up for learning more or taking the time to try to write-which I’d probably be thanked for because it wouldn’t have been understandable if I did write up a post.

This being said, I’m back! …but only for a few days. I leave Friday to go camping until next Wednesday (I think) so I won’t be available much at all those days…It depends how long I spend at my aunt’s house while camping since she only lives a few miles from where I’ll be. And so I’ll try to write a post or share something new on Thursday, but that might not happen because I’ll be staying at my cousins’ house (going camping with them).

Then after that…I’m really nervous. I have an orientation and move into an apartment through my college on July 1st, with class starting on July 8th. Luckily, I don’t have much to do at orientation, but I’m so nervous to move out and have to deal with things on my own…well, I know I’ll have help/support from my family, but it seems so scary to have this happening already.

Also, another thought coming from my previous ramen experience. I’ve been eating a lot of ramen this past week since I’ve been sick (the broth helps my throat). Whipping up an egg and cooking in with it is soooo yummy. ^^ I highly recommend doing so. I also added some green onions to it. That was yummy too.

And this is the end of this post! I’ll be updating the Current Song! page tonight and I think I’ll also be posting again about K-pop.

Oh! I lied. There’s a couple apps for Android phones that my friend shared with me. One is called TenguGo Hangul (which I’ve used) and the other is called Learn Korean Numbers (which I’ve not used). The Hangul one seems pretty good and useful…very user-friendly and seems like it’ll definitely help me learn. There’s two different parts to it; one for learning to read Hangul and one for learning to write Hangul. And because I’ve been sick, I’ve not had the chance to look at the numbers one. However, I’ll keep my blog updated on how learning with the two apps goes.

Bye!

Already. >.>

I already missed a day for posting something here. But, I’ll let it slide because i was really quite busy. It’s ridiculous, really. Tomorrow is my graduation ceremony and Saturday is my open house, so there’s a lot of preparation…but I guess it’s all fine since this is one step towards my goals. Once this week is over, everything will be much better and allow me to have more time to learn more Korean and practice…and absorb myself in more K-pop!

Speaking of K-pop and Korean. I really want to mention this website because I’ve learned so much from it. http://www.eatyourkimchi.com/ Those two (Simon & Martina) are pretty cool and stuff. Their K-pop part of their blog is totally fun, while the Korean culture and life in Korea is really informational and helpful. I recommend anyone checking it out who wants to learn more or be entertained.

http://www.eatyourkimchi.com/

I’m really enjoying this song (more specifically, the dance version is awesome). I started liking 100% awhile back and really love their Bad Boy dance and video. This seems quite a bit more straightforward and sexy than Bad Boy, though I love both. ^^ I really think they’re really good for not even being a group for a year.

Plus I really like the Teen Top 100% Rising Brothers/Become a Man (Season 1 & 2).

Um, I guess this is good enough for this post/probably for today, we’ll see.
